local client from Libaros, 2024.

The picture was of sentimental value to the owner and held a story in that it suffered water damage and broken glass whilst aboard a fishing boat in a bad storm. I made a new french oak frame with a classic old feel, stained with van dych, sealed with shellac and finished with a beeswax polish.

Testimonial

“Very happy with the frame and service.”

Locale client, 2023.

For this local client I combined 2 pdf Architects drawings into one image and then arranged the printing of the image before framing in french oak sealed with shellac and finished with a beeswax polish. The frame had a lovely honey colour due to using the dark heart wood of a very old plank of french oak. Full of character, the oak frame was treated with turpentine before finishing.

Looks fabulous and very kind of you to give the poster the mount.

Bespoke Fine Art Eco Picture Framing and Photographic Printing

Hello and welcome to my picture framing page. If you need just one unique picture frame for an old family photo or 100 frames for a hotel / restaurant I should be happy to give you a free quote and serve your requirements as best as I can.

The fine art eco framing workshop and gallery is located on an old farm in Libaros, 65330, Hautes-Pyrénées. Local towns include Galan (3.5km), Trie Sur Bäise (10.6km) and Castelnau-Magnoac (16km).

I have more than 30 years experience of framing a wide variety of artwork mainly for exhibition. Previously in the UK I framed entire collections of student work for Fermynwoods Contemporary Art educational exhibitions. I framed work for Northampton Museum and Art Gallery Sneaker Peek exhibition and unique items for their Leathercraft Collection.

All work framed using conservation materials approved by the Fine Art Guild. I moved to France in 2019 and from sleepy Libaros my local client list continues to grow week on week.

I can frame anything: oil paintings, original water colours, pastels, drawings, etchings; artist-signed limited editions, fine art prints, screen prints, c-type photographs, certificates. I am confident and happy to frame valuable artworks by famous artists.

Or if you have a unique object you would like framed I like a challenge so get in touch and see how I can help your project.

All consultations and quotes are given free of charge.

What are eco frames?

Toxic chemicals and acids are very often present in cheap factory made picture frames. Over time these products can off-gas within the sealed frame causing damage such as accelerated fading and colour changes to original photographs, drawings, prints, watercolours and mixed media artwork.

Within my eco picture framing workshop I exclusively use archival and ecological products and materials which is good news for everyone looking to be as green as possible these days. It also means I can guarantee that whatever I frame for you will not be effected adversely in the future due to badly selected materials.

I am also well versed in pro photographic printing and my selected fine art print studio is carbon neutral with 95% plastic-free packaging.

Simply put eco framing protects the art and the home.

My bio-ethical approach includes:

  • Using locally-sourced french wood for frames reducing the need for imported wood
  • pH neutral adhesives and tapes
  • Acid free conservation mountboard
  • 100% cotton museum mountboard for valuable works
  • Archival polyester mounting corners
  • No MDF!
  • Formaldehyde-free backing boards
  • Reusing reclaimed wooden frames
  • Natural wood finishes: barefaced oak, van dyke, brue de noix
  • Toulene-free natural beeswax polish
  • Reducing and recycling of waste materials

Everything I frame including valuable items uses 100% archival materials and reversible techniques so be rest assured your work is in safe hands.

Whatever it is, if you love it, get it out of the drawer and have it framed. Your frame will include all the fixings and be ready to hang on the wall where you can enjoy it.

Arrange a visit to the framing workshop

I offer free consultations and quotations often at short notice depending on my workload.

Contact me to make an appointment to visit the framing workshop in Libaros.

Bring with you what you would like framed and view my range of framing techniques and materials in person.

During your visit I will help you visualise and decide what you want the finished frame to look like.

Much of the work I undertake uses old planks of french oak which are full of character which I machine and fabricate in my workshop. Come and visit, view and select the piece of wood you like the best for your next frame.

I shall respectfully handle your work wearing clean white cotton gloves and then work out and generate a free quotation for you. You are free to decide if you would like to go ahead or not or make changes if necessary.

I hope to see you at the workshop soon and look forward to exceeding your framing expectations.

Kenny Martin
